Before & After - bed

We were given this bed by our friends, Shaun & Sara.
Here it is BEFORE (The footboard & posts only, I forgot to get a good before picture):

Here it is DURING (of course, we painted it black):
Here it is AFTER:

Thank you, Shaun & Sara! We LOVE our "new" bed!

What did you use to paint it?! Did you have to sand it down first? Looks GREAT!!

We bought black gloss interior/exterior paint. We are painting our front door black & the shutters (which are currently dark blue). We bought a whole gallon. They have it premixed & on the shelf at Lowe's.

Did you strip the wood first? I have a buffet/china cabinet that I have been wanting to paint black FOREVER but I keep thinking it will be the longest, hardest project ever!! You will have to give us your step by step process of painting furniture!!! :)

If you are really particular, you can strip it first and/or prime it first. All we do is clean it, rough it up a little with some sand paper & then paint away. Try to get the first coat even (you may still see the wood through the paint) & not totally miss anything. Then do a second coat to get the even black finish.

Thanks Meg!! Is there any particular "kind" or "brand" of paint from Lowe's you like? You are inspiring me to tackle some projects ;)
