Fall Family Trip: part two

Saturday morning we woke up at our hotel in Boone, NC. We had a full and fun day planned with visiting Blowing Rock, hiking Glen Burney Falls Trail and driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway. We stumbled upon Sims Creek and had a lot of fun hiking and exploring. Later that evening we hiked Greenway Trail and played at the park there.

Stopped for a fun snack at Blue Deer Ice Cream

Sunday morning we drove along Blue Ridge Parkway again and hiked Cascade Falls. Then we drove to Perry Lowe Orchards and picked apples.

This was such a fun trip and definitely something we would love to do again. The mountains & the fall leaves were so beautiful. We also enjoy exploring and all the hikes.

Fall Family Trip: part one

Thursday morning we left Wilmington and drove to Raleigh. We toured the North Carolina Museum of History in the morning. Then we went across the street to tour the North Carolina Museum of Science and the Nature Preserve for the afternoon. Really interesting & fun! We also toured the state capitol.

After the museums, we drove to our hotel in Cary and then explored the area and found dinner. We also walked in to the chocolate shop just to enjoy all the smells.

Friday morning we left Cary and drove to the NC Zoo in Asheboro, NC. Our kids have enjoyed watching Secrets of the Zoo: NC edition. This zoo is featured on there. This summer, as they were watching an episode, I remembered that we have reciprocity to the NC Zoo with our NC Aquarium membership. And that is how this entire fall family trip began to be planned.

We planned ahead & met our sweet friends there. They live just an hour from the zoo. We were even able to have dinner with them Friday evening. So special & fun to reconnect and spend the entire day together.
