A weekend with Lily

 

Lily & I were able to grab a few pockets of alone time over this past weekend. We enjoyed some mom/daugher time and conversations, watching a movie, a really yummy breakfast together at Our Crepe's and More, her pick, and then a drive to Charlotte for two dear friend's bridal showers.

Jessie & Jenny are both getting married this summer.

AIG wax museum

Today, Benny participated in the AIG wax museum. It was an author study. Benny picked Lauren Tarshis, author of the I Survived Series. Benny loves these books; really all our kids do - especially the new graphic novels! They are historical fiction. Benny read I Survived the American Revolution, 1776. He had to read the book, do google slides about the author which were then put onto his trifold, and dress up as a character from the book. We even borrowed the costume from our cousins.

So proud of this kid. He recently tested at the reading level of a 7th grader! 

Lily: Prom 2024

Lily had her Prom Friday night. It was for 7-10th grade.

Lily will finish 8th grade next month and turn 14 in June!

I grabbed some mini roses from Harris Teeter and made Lily a sweet little bouquet.

The 2024 Solar Eclipse happened this afternoon.

Easter Weekend with the Forman's

We were thrilled to have the Forman's here over the Easter weekend. It was such a sweet time of catching up, adult conversations, enjoying meals together, and watching the kids play.

All EIGHT of them.

We played A LOT of basketball at the park. And I'm happy to report that the 40 year old's have still got it. We even beat the young kids on Saturday morning.

Sunday morning we attended Easter at The Bridge. That afternoon we drove out to Surf City to see the beach house, clean the beach house between AirBnB guests, surf and try out the kayak.

Spring Break 2024 - Indiana Trip

 

We just enjoyed a long weekend with Anna & Claire in Carmel, Indiana. The kids are on spring break so we drove up to the cold and packed our winter gear - not the typical spring break trip. Two of the mornings it was 28! We were there Friday to Tuesday. It is always so great to spend time with family.

Lots of games were played. 

Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza was the favorite.

Coco was well loved.

Anna loves Star Wars and Legos. She had just barely started the Chewbacca lego set and told Benny he could work on it while we were there.  Benny had it completed by Sunday.

The hot tub was a hit every night!

More fun was had, though not pictured: the many meals together, dinner with Claire's Dad & stepmom, an IKEA trip, pickleball at the park, seeing Claire's Lululemon store at the Fashion Mall, watching Wonder, touring Anna's police department (including the crime lab). We also drove to Claire's mom's sub shop - Greiner's. So cute and so yummy!
