the last weekend before THE move

We still have things on our list, but we got A LOT done.

Emily came up again this weekend to help.  She shop-vac-ed & vacuumed the whole house (multiple times)! HUGE help.

Lily took a break to watch a movie, in the den, on the iPad.

We FILLED the 20 yard dumpster. Ha!

More wainscoting going up in the dining room.
He sure is handsome & handy!

Appliances got delivered - Installing the dishwasher.

We took 5-6 car loads (times 2 cars each trip) to the house.
Unpacking & filling up the pantry.

Filling up the den with boxes.  Jake also installed the ceiling fan.

Closet rods & racks up. Hanging clothes in.

More closets & more clothes.

And more.

And more.

counting down the days....

We, and when I say "we" I say it very loosely (mainly Jake, or me with the girls, otherwise I am at the old house packing & keeping the kids alive!) have been working like craZy at the final punch list prior to moving in.  YES - moving in!  We are moving boxes to the "new" house this weekend.  We are moving all the furniture Tuesday night (2/26).  I am SO so excited about being in one house.  This all has gone very fast (barely over 4 months) but we are ready to be in ONE house, own ONE house, eat supper TOGETHER (and at a normal time) & settle into our new home that God has blessed us with. Here are a few things "we've" been doing:

Painted the brick pantry stairs white (I actually did this project):

Install the light that will go over the island (the island is currently in the sunroom & doubling as a work bench for the miter-box saw).

ALL the wood laminates are in & gorgeous, although they are very dirty & dusty!

Looking down the hall to the bedrooms.

Looking from the sunroom to the front door.

I painted the sunroom the other weekend.  Jake trimmed out the windows & is painting the lower 2/3 of the wall white & getting it ready for wainscoting.

The kitchen keeps looking better & better (concrete countertops & backsplash done, flooring in, cabinets are ready to be touched up THEN white glossy subway tile with grey grout).

Carpet is getting installed Thursday (one of two things Jake is not doing himself, the other was the new roof back in November).
Kitchen appliances will be delivered on Saturday.
Then the moving will begin!  Get ready for some before & after posts.

concrete countertops

Last Saturday Jake (and a few volunteering buddies) did the concrete countertops.

They have been drying all week.  Jake is planning on doing the sanding & sealing this weekend.

Here is THE PILE.  I'm sure our neighbors love us.  Believe it or not, this is the SECOND pile.  The first pile was all the demolition stuff (walls, glass block, a bathroom, kitchen cabinets, etc.).  We had the roofers load it up in their dumpster that first week we owned the house.

Our house has been "under contract" since January 18.  However, we have not been overly confident that the sale would go through.  The buyer has been a little unrealistic in his expectations/wants/negotiations (He is a first time home buyer.).  We were also waiting to hear back from the appraisal.  After many offers, counter-offers, set backs & much prayer, it looks like the sale of our house IS going through.  We found out on Monday afternoon!  The chaos has begun - packing of our current home & To Do lists for the new house.  Jake is hoping to start laying the flooring this Wednesday.  The original closing date was February 27, but it has been moved to March 5.

Bekah came to NC!

It's been a busy week & I am FINALLY getting around to posting some pictures of our fun visit with Bekah.  Bekah flew in last Thursday afternoon & stayed until Tuesday.  It was so fun having her here!  She was also a huge help with the girls.  Yet another "Auntie" visits NC....

We showed her the beach & WCA homecoming.

Ella's ride when it's chilly out.

Auntie Bekah brought Lily a super cute owl.

Jake's birthday was Monday - 32!

Lily sang Jake "Happy Birthday" at least a dozen times.
