Benjamin Lee, N I N E

I am tempted to type this every single birthday that each of our kids have.  How? How are they currently 7, 9, 11 and 13? It seems like just yesterday we received the call and had Benny in our arms within an hour. We can't imagine our family without him. What a gift each of our children are to us.

We had a full week with volleyball games, practices, community group, etc., so we celebrated throughout the week.

Dinner at Islands (Benny's pick) on Tuesday night.

Benny requested "homemade" donuts for his birthday breakfast so we made it happen. He even helped!

We should've done a video. After we sang "Happy Birthday," Benny blew out the candle on his powdered donut. Powered sugar went across the table. It was hilarious.

After breakfast Benny opened gifts and then headed off to school. My favorite gift was a small bag that I let him know I had searched high & low for these treasures. What was in it? A-L-L the legos and toys that have gone through the wash (in his pockets) since end of June. I threw away the baggies and wrappers. His face was priceless. Lost treasures!

Did you see Benny's cake that all the kid's designed, made & decorated together? So fun!

Happy 9th Birthday B E N N Y!

starting early

BENNY turns N I N E this week!

We have a busy week ahead with school, multiple volleyball games, community group, volleyball practices, etc. TODAY was the best day to make Benny's cake.  Benny has been planning his birthday cake, with the help of his sisters, for weeks.  This morning Benny & Ella made the cake.  Once cooled, they started the decorating. Lily & Wren mixed the blue frosting to Benny's blue hue approval. Lily frosted the two layer cake. Benny & Ella rolled the fondant and cut out the pattern on the fondant. Then Benny did the final assembly.

Of course we had to try the cake this afternoon. We will be having blue teeth, blue lips and a blue tongue all week while we celebrate Benny's 9th Birthday!

Labor Day Weekend 2023

We spent Labor Day weekend in Surf City. The weather was absolutely amazing. Jake & I saw some lovely sunrises & sunsets. The beach had great waves for boogie boarding and surfing. The kids played with all their neighborhood friends nonstop. Some of us fit in kayaking and fishing during the weekend stay. The evenings were cool and breezy which made for lovely bike rides after dinner.
Sunday morning we all hopped on our bikes and went out for an adventure. We stopped by a local favorite, Daybreak Donuts, for breakfast. Then we biked to Soundside Park, and to the top of Surf City bridge. On the way towards home, we admired the new mural.
