our crazy girl & mommy at 26 weeks

After church I told Lily to stand against the wall & say "cheese." Here is what we got!
Lily has been CRAZY recently & such a goof ball, but she is so much fun.

I am 26 weeks now. I kept track of my belly growth (with Lily's pregnancy) by writing on a fabric tape measure. Right now I am measuring the same as Lily at 19 weeks. 7 weeks behind! And my belly has only grown a 1/2 inch in the last 4 weeks. I guess the fabric tape measurer doesn't lie, but I sure feel like my belly is sticking out more & more each week.

Another cheeser from Lily.

Before & After - dresser

Jake was off on Monday & Tuesday for President's Day & Winter Break. Lily & I LOVED having him home. He is so great with Lily - such an awesome Dad & a wonderful husband. It was so nice to have help while I worked.
Jake & I have been working in the baby's room. We got rid of our full size bed this weekend (praise be!). I have been making a yard sale pile as I organize & sort & reorganize, etc.... On Saturday we went & got paint; Jake painted the dresser yesterday & today.

BEFORE - This dresser was my great-Grandma Tuttle's. It's been in the family for a while.

DURING
Lily played while Daddy & Mommy worked.

AFTER - We saw this HERE & loved it. I already knew that we were going to keep the walls grey & accent with yellow. So we totally copied the idea.
I have already picked out & shipped fabrics to my mother-in-law for the baby's quilt. Remember when she made Lily's baby quilt? Now I need to sew drapes, recover a rocker & much much more.

Corn & Feta Cheese Dip

This is a family favorite! We first had this last year at a friends house. That friend got the recipe from another friend, so I am not sure whose recipe it is. Enjoy.

Corn & Feta Cheese Dip
  • 1 can black beans (drained & rinsed)
  • 1 can shoe peg corn
  • 1 can sweet niblet corn
  • 1 red bell pepper (chopped)
  • 3 bunches spring onions (chopped)
  • 1 pkg. feta cheese
Mix in medium bowl. In a separate small bowl mix:
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/3 cup oil
  • 1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
Pour over corn mixture. Chill overnight. Serve with corn chips.

Before & After - occasional chair

Here is another find from our Salvation Army Jackpot the other week.
We also found THIS & THIS that same day.

I have been wanting an additional occasional chair for our living room. We can use more seating when we have guests. I found this chair for $14.99 at the Salvation Army.
Here is the BEFORE:

And the AFTER:

We recovered the seat as well as painting & distressing the wood a little bit. We purchased this fabric for this chair, but then decided to use the leftover for the high chair too.

Saturdays at OUR house

First of all this doesn't happen EVERY Saturday (however, I do try to make breakfast at least one day out of the weekend), but this is what we did today.

I found this recipe for "homemade" donuts HERE via Pinterest.
Very easy, quick & yummy. I will be making them again soon.

Lily got up & came to "help" me in the kitchen.
She & Daddy "help" by eating the donuts faster than I can make them.

I am starting to reorganize closets & most of the house to make room for Baby Flaming. I am needing some storage/organizing stuff for the closets.
We hit up some thrift stores up in Hampstead during the morning. I found a few things, but not what we were looking for. In the afternoon we headed down to Monkey Junction to pick up a file cabinet that I found on Craig's List. Then we decided to stop at Goodwill. We found BUNK BEDS for $42 TOTAL. We will need to buy the mattress set, but this was on THE list. So thankful...we were thinking that we'd have to buy them new come May. Lily will be moving to a twin bed in May. We will just set up the one bed for now & someday set up the bunk beds when they are needed.

I think we wore her out today. We always check on Lily before we head to bed. It is so funny to see her different sleep positions. Here she was tonight.

Before & After - high chair

We chose not to get a high chair for Lily. We ended up using the Bumbo & then moved her straight to a booster seat. It worked out well. The main reason we didn't purchase a high chair is because all the new ones are HUGE & BIG & BULKY. We do not have a garage or a basement but, we do have a small attic for storage. Therefore, we are very limited on space & storage.

Originally, when we were looking for a high chair, we were looking at thrift stores & yard sales for a small, collapsable, retro one. We found one 2 weeks ago at the Salvation Army. And YES...it was only $2.99. Here are some BEFORE pictures:

And AFTER:

Jake took apart & scrubbed on the chair. He removed a lot of dirt, rust & repainted the metal seat white. I made a slip cover for the back. It ties on at the bottom. I will then be able to remove it & throw it in the washer. I made an envelope closure on the bottom cushion so I can remove that & wash it too.

And the main selling point... it collapses & will fit in our hall closet.
