Spring Break 2024 - Indiana Trip

We just enjoyed a long weekend with Anna & Claire in Carmel, Indiana. The kids are on spring break so we drove up to the cold and packed our winter gear - not the typical spring break trip. Two of the mornings it was 28! We were there Friday to Tuesday. It is always so great to spend time with family.

Lots of games were played.
Taco Cat Goat Cheese Pizza was the favorite.

Coco was well loved.

Anna loves Star Wars and Legos. She had just barely started the Chewbacca lego set and told Benny he could work on it while we were there.  Benny had it completed by Sunday.

The hot tub was a hit every night!

More fun was had, though not pictured: the many meals together, dinner with Claire's Dad & stepmom, an IKEA trip, pickleball at the park, seeing Claire's Lululemon store at the Fashion Mall, watching Wonder, touring Anna's police department (including the crime lab). We also drove to Claire's mom's sub shop - Greiner's. So cute and so yummy!

Thanks for having us Anna & Claire!

BURN + family

This morning we had a grand re-opening celebration at BURN Bootcamp Wilmington. We are celebrating Stephanie, our head trainer for the past 3 years, buying out this franchise so BURN Wilmington is now locally owned and operated. We were allowed to bring our family & friends for the workout & stay for the celebration. ALL FOUR kids wanted to come and work out with me. It was really fun! Jake came and cheered us on.

Lily & Ella joined me, on the floating floor, for the body weight conditioning workout. They did great and worked hard the entire 45 minutes.  Ella said "i thought i was going to die." Lily said "it was super hard." I think they have a new appreciation for what Mom does every weekday morning at 5am.

Benny & Wren did the Kids Camp that was outside. It was a scaled version of the workout on the floating floor. Benny & Wren then joined me for the last two building laps plus the finisher.

We're feeling strong after that workout!

The face paint was amazing!

We LOVE BURN Wilmington!

2 birthdays & 1 overnight

We celebrated Meg's 41st birthday on Tuesday, January 16. The day began with breakfast made by Lily (pumpkin bars and fruit). I opened some thoughtful homemade cards and gifts from Jake & the kids. The kids headed to school. That afternoon, I brought lunch to Jake at work. After school we had away basketball games and then dinner out at CAVA.

Love it when they're both on the court at the same time!

Ella & I concocted a pumpkin cheesecake and it was very tasty.

For Christmas, I gave Jake tickets to see John Crist: Emotional Support Tour, in Wilmington on Saturday January 20 at The Wilson Center. It was so fun. We laughed our heads off. Jake had hotel points, so we stayed downtown overnight and those 21 hours away were just what we needed!

We celebrated Jake's 43rd birthday on Sunday, January 28. Actually we've been celebrating all weekend with some of Jake's favorite foods and activities. The actual day started out with breakfast made by Ella (scones and fruit). We headed to church and afterwards enjoyed a birthday lunch out at PT's Grille. Of course we watched the NFC and AFC championships and enjoyed some cake later on in the day.

Dolphin Dip 2024

Lily & Ella participated in a Dolphin Dip today. A lot of neighbors, on our street in Surf City, met up at 11am for the unofficial Dolphin Dip. Brrrr.

And we started a new project

It seemed like the family pulled out and Jake started working on this - we are enclosing part of the area beneath our beach house for storage. Eventually we will have a bathroom + shower down there and potentially an extra bedroom... someday.
