Stop 2: The Grand Canyon
Benny, our 4th grader, signing his FREE year pass to the National Parks.
The views were breathtaking. Such expanse.
As far as you can see east to west is the canyon; it's incredible.
We hiked the Bright Angel Canyon - 1.5 miles down, then turned around and came back up 1.5 miles. It was a pretty intense hike as near the top there was ice on the switchbacks. The way down you were trying not to slip on ice. The way up you were out of breath and needing breaks. If you wanted to take in the views, you needed to stop to look up.
4-5" of snow came overnight
While visiting The Grand Canyon, we stayed 2 nights at The Squire Holiday Inn Resort . We had to get 2 rooms due to the size of our family. The kids loved swimming both evenings and doing snow angels in their swimsuits.
Friday morning we left our hotel and headed towards our AirBnB in Hatch, Utah. Unfortunately, the scenic route was closed due to snow and ice so this lengthened our drive. We also had a rather slow drive the first hour plus due to icy roads. However, the snowy drive was gorgeous!
