Thursday Night Project

I made this cornice board for Jess & my sliding glass door back when we lived at Oakwood. Since moving this summer it has been wrapped up & sitting in our garage. My current place doesn't have a sliding glass door. I am starting to weed things out before moving to NC. Well, a few weeks ago Jess asked if I was going to keep it. I had actually been thinking who might want it. Thursday night we tackled the remaking of the cornice board.

Our door at Oakwood was 9 feet & Jess only needed a finished length of 79". Here I am taking the old fabric off the end we are going to chop off to make it shorter.

We borrowed Liz's truck & took it to Dad's garage. Dad is measuring twice & cutting once.

Then we took it to Jess's place. Jess is taking out multiple staples to get the old fabric off.

Reattaching the end.

Reinforcing. . . sometimes I get a little drill happy. :)

Chatting while working.

I love my drill!

Jess deciding which side of the fabric she wanted to use.

Ta-da! The finished product. Looks gorgeous! We are going to hang it this weekend while Jake is here. Mounting it on the wall isn't the easiest thing to do. It's easier with extra hands & help. I am so glad that Jess can use this! We're keeping it in the family. ;)

Easter Weekend In Minnesota

Yup, this is Easter in Minnesota!
I had to shovel 4" or more off our driveway on Saturday morning.

I went to Mom's Friday night & Saturday to help her get everything ready for Easter. We made lots of yummy food. I volunteered to set the table. I love doing that!

Mom had scrabble pieces out & Dad has made some Easter "inspired" phrases. I was trying to think of a way to use them. I decided to put them in the parfait's with the candles.

We had words like:

Cross, Atonement, Grace, Mercy, Forgiven, His Love & Life.

Even though it was cold & snowy outside, we made it look like spring inside.

We had to use 2 tables to fit all 16 of us.

It was such a great time. The Rathbun's & Dickenson's came for Sunday lunch. Both families used to live in PA with us.

The Power Of The Cross

Oh, to see the dawn of the darkest day:
Christ on the road to Calvary.
Tried by sinful men, torn and beaten, then
Nailed to a cross of wood.

Oh, to see the pain written on Your face,
Bearing the awesome weight of sin.
Every bitter thought, every evil deed
Crowning Your bloodstained brow.

Now the daylight flees; now the ground beneath
Quakes as its Maker bows His head.
Curtain torn in two, dead are raised to life;
"Finished!" the victory cry!

This, the power of the cross:
Christ became sin for us;
Took the blame, bore the wrath—
We stand forgiven at the cross.

Oh, to see my name written in the wounds,
For through Your suffering I am free.
Death is crushed to death; life is mine to live,
Won through Your selfless love.

This, the power of the cross:
Son of God—slain for us.
What a love! What a cost!
We stand forgiven at the cross.

It's The Most Wonderful Time of the Year!

Baseball has begun!
Sunday our family (minus those out of town--Emily & Jake) had a Twins party to kick off baseball season. The Twins game was televised. Mom made brats & potato salad & we pretended it was spring & watched the game.
We love baseball & the Twins. . .so fun!

My Friend Beth

Thursday night I went over to Jason & Beth's for dinner & then stayed to help Beth finish Jonas's room. Beth & I love doing projects together. We typically don't meet for coffee, mainly because it's hard to do that with 3 kids. We just make coffee at one of our houses & go to work. We do love taking day trips to Buffalo; we need to do that again SOON.

Here is Beth working on hanging some art.

Me & Kate supervising the hanging of the art.
(Beth's youngest who is ONE today! Happy Birthday Kate!)

Beth & I don't have any pictures of us. Time is ticking til I get married & move to NC. We had Jonas (who is 4) take our picture. This was hilarious! Jonas was sure he had us in the picture, but the camera was pointing VERY low. Beth & I kept squatting lower & lower to get in the picture.

Beth & I with her & Jason's 3 kids. Jonas & Ella will be in Jake & my wedding along with Morgen & Carsten (Jake's niece & nephew).
