Some of you may have heard. . .
I have started my own business.
I recently set up an "S" Corp for Meg Anne Design.
I am very excited about all of this;
I can't wait to get some more clients!

Flowers from Jake

I can't believe it's already been TWO months!
My sweet husband brought me flowers today.
Cute, purple daisies--I even had enough to make 2 arrangements.

WCA Soccer League

This morning was the first game day for WCA Soccer League.
They have teams from 4 years old thru 8th grade. There are over 250 kids in this Saturday league.
This year Jake is coaching one of the 1st & 2nd grade teams.

Warm Up
Jake showing them which way their goal was.
After much effort, Jake's blue team lost 1-4.
Maybe them pull out a win next Saturday.

Sleep over at OUR house!

Last night we had Micah (age 6) & Laci (age 4) spend the night. Their Dad, Pastor Dave, is the Youth Pastor at Grace. Pastor Dave was out speaking at The Anchorage all week & Jenny wanted to go with him. We said OF COURSE we would take the kiddo's.

Highlight of the night:
I had put the kids to bed shortly after we got home from church (around 9). A few minutes after, Laci came out because the flashlight was broken. Then a few minutes after that, Micah came out because his front tooth was really loose. It was only hanging by one thread. It wasn't going to make it til morning or thru the school day tomorrow so. . . Micah asked Mr. Jake to pull it.
Now Micah is missing BOTH front teeth. I couldn't get a toothless smile out of Micah this morning. Maybe tonight at supper.

FINALLY

We have been waiting & waiting & waiting . . . . .

. . . . .for our Target Club Wed registry-complete 10% off coupon to come in the mail.

I have been calling Target every other week to see what the status is/was. The second time I called they said that someone had switched our wedding date (in their system) to August 30, so the system would generate the coupon 3 days prior to our wedding date. So we kept waiting. I called again yesterday & asked them if they could just email me a coupon. After speaking with two people, Target set it up that Jake & I could go into the Wilmington Target & do our registry-complete shop. The manager had to manually take 10% off of each registry item.

We haven’t had POTS & PANS!!! Luckily, I did move my double boiler, so I have been able to make meals with one sauce pan. I have been getting creative. We also have an electric griddle, crock-pot & a George Forman. Thank goodness! I purchased a wok a couple of weeks ago. I really wanted to make stir fry. I also used it for browning 3 pounds of beef. I had to ask a friend to borrow her stock pot to boil lasagna noodles. It’s been fun & a little adventuresome!

A week after we got here we decided to go to Bed Bath & Beyond to get a vacuum. I couldn’t wait any longer for that! We used a 20% off coupon.

SO we finally have pots & pans (WOOHOO!), our TV (after missing ALL of the Olympics), an extra set of sheets for the guest bedroom, and some other miscellaneous items. The nice thing about not getting the coupon immediately was that we figured out what we really still needed. We decided against a bunch of things due to space issues in our condo. Now I can’t wait to cook a meal with more than one sauce pan!

Here is Jake’s Jeep a little full after Target. The BEST thing was that we had a LOT of money in Target gift cards so we only paid $80 for all of this! Yay!

Picnic in the Park

Tonight we broke in our new picnic backpack (Thanks Ben & Amy) & had a picnic at Hugh MacRae Park. The park is only a few minutes from our house. I love this backpack! You can fit everything in it! It already has all your plates, cups & utensils “built in” and has an insulated part on the back side. Hopefully we will be going on many more picnics.

One Year Ago

Today is exactly ONE YEAR since Jake first texted me. Here is how it all started. . . . . . . . . . . .

(Jake texted Tuesday, September 11, 2007

at 10:25pm)

Hey, It’s Jake. I was wondering. . . .when are you going to move to NC so we can get married? :)

(Meg texted back Wednesday, September 12, 2007

at 5:00pm)

How big is the ring? Wow, you move fast! And what if your future wife doesn’t want to live in NC?

. . . . . . . . . . . . . And the rest is history!

My Garden

In the past, I have killed EVERY plant that I have tried to keep in my apartment. I am hoping that it will be different this time. Maybe since we have a little built-out window (greenhouse), I won't kill it -- We'll see!

What Do You Do When A Hurricane Is Coming?

Go to the beach & check it out!

WCA cancelled school for today & they announced it yesterday afternoon. This morning Jake & I headed down to Wrightsville Beach to check out the waves.
The pier at Oceanic.
It was super windy & the waves were rolling in.
CNN crew
So far we've only experienced a little bit of rain.

A Hurricane Is Coming

I'm sure MANY of you have heard that
Hurricane Hanna is coming SOON!

Well, having grown up in Pennsylvania & Minnesota, I have no clue about hurricanes. I have had a few friends ask me if I am prepared & I said, I don't even know what to do to prepare for a hurricane. Luckily, Jake lived through a few hurricane's at PCC, including Ivan.

We had plans for Friday & Saturday night. BOTH have been cancelled due to the projected hurricane.
Man, they sure take things seriously down here.

Here are a few tips that I have received from friends:
  • Have a flashlight on hand.
  • Have candles & matches handy.
  • Have a battery powered radio. Then if we lose power, we can know what is going on.
  • Have non-perishables on hand. (I actually was needing to go to the grocery store & decided not to in case we do lose power. I wouldn't want to lose everything in my fridge! We do have snacks, PB&J, and bread on hand. What else could we need?)

Labor Day Weekend

My sister, Emily, came up from Charleston, for the holiday weekend. We had a great time.
We hit the beach on Saturday (see previous post), played games Saturday night, hung out & relaxed (with Melissa too!), had church Sunday & our church picnic on Monday.
I'm so excited that she is only 3 hours away now!

Before dinner on Saturday. Talking business.

Monday at the church picnic: church men (including Jake) played the Varsity boys soccer team at 10am. Then at 11am the church women (including me) played the varsity girls volleyball team.
